Or, the “Circle-jerk”. Or “The Great Circle-Jerk of 2011″. (I don’t think Google+ sucks, I just think Chuck Wendig’s got something there with adding “circle-jerk” to the Google+ user lexicon. Because: it’s funny.)
Anyway, I’m on it. I’ll probably be there more often than I am on Facebook, because there’s no spam from your friends, and I get to decide what I’m looking at at every single point in the process.
A few bits and bobs:
- My trusty IBM T-40 has begun to die a slow death, and I have begun a counter-riposte that involves building a T42 from spare parts and working on that instead. Everything’s nearly complete, but it was a pain in the butt. Thank goodness for frequent backups.
- Kotaku has an article up about Achron. They’re in the process of playing through the first campaign, which was written by yours truly. No word yet on whether they loved/hated the story, which I will take as a good sign. Go give it a read.
- I am running on coffee and coffee fumes today, because I was up late finishing my laptop. I also got up early to continue work on Achron.
- I need to drink more coffee.
- Rumor has it that Netflix will soon be bumping the price of the 1-at-a-time DVD + Instant Streaming to $16/month sometime soon. This is less than awesome, because we still use their service to procure the occasional ancient plastic disc due to the fact that their Instant Streaming selection doesn’t always do the trick. (Said Instant Streaming often will leave out a few episodes per season of TV, marking them as ‘Disc Only’. Pfthhhhppptt to that.) I’ve been considering getting an Amazon Prime account for a while now, and after a lightning quick display of mathematical prowess I determined that the extra $6/month we’d pay for 1-at-a-time DVD rentals from Netflix would land us access to Amazon’s Video on Demand service and ridiculously fast shipping for an entire year. So, yeah. Sorry, Netflix. UPDATE: Er, Amazon Prime VOD doesn’t really have the selection I was hoping for, so that’s not an option. It looks like we’ll be streaming + whatever we can get from the local rental place.
- I’m considering changing the name of the blog. ”Playing with Words” is a nice phrase, but I don’t think it really describes what I’m doing anymore. I find I’m deadly serious about words these days. I shot a man into space just to show him how serious I was just last week. (The day job part remains, ’cause I still have one of those.) I don’t know exactly where I’ll be going from there, but I’ll keep you posted.
- Profit??
